Employability Skills Dean

I want to coach football for younger children and the course has given me the start to get into that career.

I enrolled on the Vi-Ability Run The Club programme after I met Karl a member of the Vi-Ability Team at an event at Woolwich Job Centre. I have always been very keen on my sport and was extremely eager to see what opportunities there were available for me to work somewhere within the sports industry. The 8-week programme was great! It gave me the chance to study and understand the variety of departments that make up a sports club. I found it extremely interesting to discover how both amateur and professional sports clubs operate on a day to day basis. The programme really allowed me to see and meet people within the industry who work behind the scenes in really interesting roles.

During the 8 week programme, I gained three qualifications with Vi-Ability. An exclusive BTEC Level 2 Award in the Commercialisation of Football, Emergency First Aid and a Sports Leaders ‘Go Lead’ award. Alongside this the programme allowed me to develop my personal and social skills for work. I have now graduated the programme a much more confident individual who is eager to seek further opportunities through the support system Vi-Ability provide. Since graduating the programme I have gone on to engage in further Employability Programmes with Vi-Ability partners Palace For Life where I am doing my FA Level 1 coaching badge. I am also doing a pre-apprenticeship with Lambeth College doing customer service. A course that is giving me further skills I require for work.
