A local teaching assistant, Sandra, began the 10-week riding scheme in April 2016 after having never ridden her horse previously or had any contact with horses but quickly grew her confidence with our programme.
Sandra started lessons on our mechanical horse which progressed shortly onto our sessions, on one of our horses called Bob. Sandra was initially very nervous and wary but her confidence has grown tremendously as well as her skill set. Shortly afterwards, Sandra completed one of our one-day courses which she really enjoyed and found very helpful in developing her knowledge further. Sandra is now continuing with weekly lessons and plans on attending further short courses run at the Greenwich Equestrian centre.
The Royal Borough of Greenwich Equestrian Skills Centre and Riding School offers both riding and practical hands on short courses ranging from a 10-week riding scheme aimed at introducing a complete beginner to someone returning to riding using our well-equipped and BHS approved ‘outstanding’ site with well qualified instructors. We also offer one and two-day courses in Horse Husbandry aimed at developing essential horse care skills. These can support the progression onto our part-time and full-time courses at Hadlow and further develop essential skills for a stepping stone into employment within the equine industry.
