After attending GCDA's 'How to use a sewing machine', your next step is do our 'All Sewn Up' course.

This course will embed your skills from the introduction and build up your sewing skills.
At the end of the course you would have made an item, such as lavender bag, glasses case or bus pass holder, whilst instilling the importance of repairing and reusing for environmental and budgeting reasons.

By the end of the course, you'll be able to:
Describe and list sewing machine basics; what should be in a sewing kit?
Learn how to use a machine and make a simple pin cushion or other item
Sew a patchwork cushion cover using a simple envelope technique  
Describe pattern basics; learn how to ‘read’ a pattern – start work on pinning and cutting out a simple book bag 
Demonstrate simple hand-finishing techniques  
Sew buttons, hems and other minor mends and alterations
