Sewing is an essential life skill, and this course teaches those basics, whilst also instilling the importance of repairing and reusing for environmental and budgeting reasons.
By the end of the course, you'll be able to:
Describe and list sewing machine basics; what should be in a sewing kit?
Learn how to use a machine and make a simple pin cushion
Sew a patchwork cushion cover using a simple envelope technique
Describe pattern basics; learn how to ‘read’ a pattern – start work on pinning and cutting out a simple book bag
Demonstrate simple hand-finishing techniques
Sew buttons, hems and other minor mends and alterations
