Launch Your Food Business
Are you a foodie with a desire to run your own business? Do you dream of launching a street food stall, running your own bakery or seeing your products on supermarket shelves?
Our 10 week guide to launching a food business can help turn your dream into a reality. With a mix of classroom sessions, group discussions and independent research, we’ll take you through everything from registering a company and getting the right food safety training, to developing a product, finding suppliers, setting prices, building a brand and finding a route to market.
Led by tutors with decades of experience in food and hospitality, the course is perfect for anyone who is bored at work and looking to follow a passion, or those keen to find a rewarding, or more flexible, career after being away from the workplace for a while. We’ve already helped a number of food businesses get off the ground, from street food stalls to drinks producers, caterers to cafes and yours could be next!
With loads of practical advice about what it takes to run a food business, you’ll also have the chance to discuss your products with the people who run established London food markets, who’ll give you the feedback you need to make your business a success.
By the end of the course you'll be able to:
Analyse aims and identify a personal development plan to support these aims.
Develop a feasibility study and market research to assess the viability of the business idea.
Identify the most appropriate legal structure.
Demonstrate how to cost a recipe and apply this to all recipes
Describe the process of financial management and how this applies to the business.
Develop and practice using a profit and loss spreadsheet, including start-up budget.

Using all this information, complete a business plan to get up and running.
Identify sources of funding
