Please note that we are constantly updating the website on a termly basis – visit again for updates on new courses.

Functional Skills in English
We offer English at various starting points – Entry Level to Level 2 and each learner is assessed to determine their appropriate level. You can progress internally within UCRA from Entry Level to L2 until you reach your goal which may be confident in the English language with increasing clarity, accuracy and effectiveness at each level, going into work or University enrolment.

Functional Skills in Maths
Need to develop numeracy skills? We offer both accredited and non-accredited maths programmes from entry to Level 2. Being numerate is a skill for life and it's needed in all situations including portioning foods, supporting children with their homework, joining university and progression into apprenticeship. You can not do without functional skills in maths. We enrol termly in September, January and April.

Health and Social Care Courses
You will learn about duty-of-care, how to communicate with the service users, health and safety, safeguarding and prevention, infection control, managing dementia, and more. This is the quickest route to progress into nursing, residential and domiciliary care and we will support you all the way. There is high demand for employees in this sector and you will be supporting the country's healthcare.

Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and Colleges (TA)
This programme will enable you understand the different school systems, ethos, governance and support needs of children including special needs. Becoming a TA is suitable for those looking to work flexibly around their children's school term times. We support you to secure a placement which may lead to permanent job.

Child Care
We offer course from Award to Level 2 diploma for those seeking to work in children's centres.

I was unemployed for over 10 years as I had no idea of how to start looking for a job. I enrolled on a L2 Certificate Health and Social Care which I recently completed. I gained so much confidence, so much knowledge and I have my first qualification. I have never achieved any qualification before this one. Better still, I now have a job.
