GCDA has been delivering high-quality adult learning since 2016 and has supported the borough for over 40 years. With strong local partnerships and networks, we help communities thrive through enterprise support, health projects, community hubs and accessible training opportunities. Your journey starts here!

Our courses

Our adult learning courses are designed to help you build skills, confidence and connections in a supportive, inclusive and welcoming environment. We offer a wide range of courses, including business start-up, web design and social media, alongside creative subjects such as sewing, art and creative writing. Our cooking courses range from basic and intermediate skills to ‘Eat Around the World’ and many more, giving learners the chance to explore new cuisines and develop practical life skills.

Whether you’re returning to learning, changing direction, or simply trying something new, our courses are a great way to grow in confidence, meet new people and discover new interests. Many learners go on to take further courses with us, progress into volunteering, or use their new skills at work or in their communities. Start your learning journey with us today!

Our teaching

Our courses are taught face-to-face in friendly, interactive sessions designed to keep learning practical, engaging and enjoyable. We believe people learn best by doing, so our classes are full of hands-on activities, discussion and real-world examples that help embed learning and build confidence.

Our tutors are experts in their fields, with extensive industry experience, and many continue to work day-to-day in the industries they teach. This means learning is always up-to-date, relevant and grounded in real practice. Just as importantly, our tutors are passionate, supportive and committed to helping every learner succeed, whatever their starting point. You’ll be encouraged to ask questions, try new things and learn at your own pace, in an environment where you feel supported and valued from your very first session.

“Coral is a really wonderful teacher, she is patient and supports every attendee. She explains everything in detail and is easy to understand. She really cares about her students and takes the time to guide everyone with their project. She is passionate about her work which is inspiring, but she also builds confidence in her students. This has helped me to believe that I can make a project even when I find sewing challenging. Huge thanks Coral!”

“This has been one of the best courses I have ever taken. Not only did I succeed in finishing my goal, I had a really good time doing so. I felt encouraged by MJ and the other learners every single evening. I would highly recommend!”
