Ceramics Introduction to Surfaces and Forms

You will gain a wide skill set through a series of tutor-led projects. We will create tiles, moulded dishes as well as more complex 3D forms and vessels. We will imprint and carve textured designs, explore printing painting and experiment with a range of mark making techniques using clay slips, oxides and stains. Basic Glazing techniques will also be covered.

What you will study
Explore the world of ceramic surface decoration through tutor-led projects. Learn techniques such as imprinting, carving, printing, painting, and mark-making using slips, oxides, and glazes. Each term focuses on a different theme:

Autumn Term – Slips, printing, and oxides
Spring Term – Texture and carving
Summer Term – Understanding and using glazes

The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as students who have some experience in the subject and wish to further improve and develop their skills.

The cost for materials for this course is £40 per term, however any additional enrolment in the same term is £30
