National Bowel Cancer Month 2025

Bowel cancer, which includes colon and rectal cancer, is one of the most common cancers in the UK.

Knowledge truly is power, especially when it comes to your health. This April, we are dedicated to spreading awareness about bowel cancer. The more you know, the better prepared you are to tackle it head-on should you or a loved one ever have to face it

Early Detection Saves Lives Bowel cancer is commonly diagnosed in those over 60, but younger individuals can also be affected. Regular bowel cancer screening is key for early detection. Across the UK, people aged 50-74, or 54-74, depending on where you live, are automatically sent a screening home test kit every two years. Those aged 75 or older are eligible to request this every two years using the free helpline.

Potential Signs of Bowl Cancer Bowel cancer is likely to be treatable if found early, and survival rates are significantly higher. Be vigilant and aware of the symptoms, contact your GP if you experience any of the following: Persistent and unexplained changes in bowel habit Bleeding from your bottom or blood in your poo A pain or lump in your stomach Unintentional weight loss Extreme tiredness for no obvious reason
