Stay safe online this Christmas

During the festive period last year, cyber criminals stole an average of £775 from each victim - and even more of us are shopping online this Christmas, due to COVID-19, which means more opportunity for these thieves to strike. The National Cyber Security Centre has shared six practical steps that you can take to protect you from the some of the most common cyber-attacks, including the threats posed from shopping online:

1. create a separate password for your email

2. create a strong password using three random words

3. save your passwords in your browser

4. turn on two-factor authentication

5. update your devices

6. turn on backup

By following the advice, you will make it harder for criminals to access your money and your personal information. Watch this video or visit the cyberaware.gov.uk website for more information.
