Basic Cooking Skills
Aimed at those who lack confidence when cooking, we will cover essential basic cooking skills to help you cook more from scratch, understand cooking terms and techniques, and understand how different ingredients interact with each other. You'll save money and be healthier.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
-Demonstrate and apply basic knife safety and handling
-Demonstrate methods of grilling, basting, boiling, blanching, and refreshing, dry frying, braising and baking
-Explain how and why we marinade
-Identify different types of flour and their uses
-Understand a range of different culinary terms and techniques
-Demonstrate how to prepare vegetables
-Prepare 5 sauces that can be used in a variety of dishes
